Note | RANDOLPH - Harry F. Shoup, age 86, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006. He was born in Napoleon, Ohio, on July 28, 1919, the son of Clarence and Bessie (Ludeman) Shoup. Harry enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving his country in World War II from 1941 until 1946. He married the former Betty Hammond in St. Johns, Mich., on Sept. 4, 1943, while on leave. Following the war, they settled in Michigan, where Harry began farming. The family moved to the Columbus/ Beaver Dam area in 1953, where Harry farmed until he finally retired in his early 80s. He also took a great interest in flying; earned his pilot's license and frequently flew the family to Michigan as well as Florida for vacation. Harry also enjoyed snowmobiling with his sons. He will be deeply missed and is lovingly survived by his wife, Betty of Randolph; a son, David of Portage; three grandchildren, Dennis Jr., Lora and Rebekah Shoup, all of Randolph; a brother, Lawrence of St. John's, Mich.; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Karen; a son, Dennis; his sister, Florence; and a brother, Howard. Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, Jan. 23, 2006, at the RANDOLPH COMMUNITY FUNERAL HOME, 208 S. High St., Randolph. Pastor Lee Snyder will officiate.
