Lisbon OH Morning Journal - 7/5/06 - Dorothy M. Shasteen - SALEM - Dorothy M. Shasteen, 92, of 250 Continental Drive, Salem, died at 3:32 p.m. Sunday at Essex of Salem II. - She was born April 14, 1914, in Swissville, Pa., the daughter of the late Burton B. and Celia (Emmert) Sutter. - She had been employed at the Haldi Shoe Store in Salem as a bookkeeper for five years. Dorothy was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Salem. - She was a 1931 graduate of Salem High School and a member of the Mahoning Valley (Airstream) Ohio Unit of Wally Bryan Caravan Club. -Her husband, Bruce C. Shasteen, whom she married August 9, 1936, preceded her in death on October 8, 1998. - Survivors include two sons, Richard (Darlene Zeigler) Shasteen of Milton, Vt., and Robert J. Shasteen of Salem; a daughter, Kathryn (Michael) Matthews of Niles; a sister, C. Christina Stapleton of Salem; eight grandchildren, Suzanne Shasteen and Julie (Radwin) Mahfiche, both of Vermont, Ronald (Debbie) Shasteen of Berlin Center, Bruce F. Shasteen and Timothy P. (Rae) Craik of Salem, Lindsay Craik of Dallas, Texas, Angela Craik of Kent, and Nathan Craik of Niles; and eightgreat- grandchildren, Alexander Mahfiche of Vermont; Jason Weingart of Florida; Lindsey and Lacey Shasteen of Salem; Quentin and Giana Craik of Salem; and Lakota Shasteen and Haley Shasteen of Berlin Center. - Also preceding her in death were three brothers, Edward H. Sutter, Franklin G. Sutter and Burton B. Sutter. - Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Grandview Cemetery Chapel with the Rev. Mac Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. - Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 244 S. Broadway, Salem, Ohio 44460 or the Salem High School Alumni Association, 328 E. State St., Salem, Ohio 44460. - Arrangements were handled by the Stark Memorial Funeral Home.
