KAY, ROBERT J. of Commerce Township; December 30, 2025; age 84; Cherished husband of Deanna Kay for over 59 years; Beloved father of Mark (Pam) Knedgen, Greg (Brenda) Knedgen, Lisa (late Kaz) Nemanis and Jennifer (Jeff) Bates; Loving grandfather of Marlece, Bryan (Angela), Taryn (Sam), Haley (Jonny), Jonathon (Amelia), Caitlin (Jared), Andrius, Monika, Joshua and the late Stase; Proud great grandfather of Jaidyn, Kaden, Cambria, Martel, Roland, Rose, Kaison, Maeve and Ivy June; Dear brother of the late Bryan Kay. Mr. Kay was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church. He worked for the Ford Motor Company for 41 years at the Pilot Plant in Dearborn. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 5, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church, 3750 Commerce Road, Orchard Lake. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 4th from 12 noon until 4 p.m., with a Rosary at 3:30 p.m., at the Riverside Chapel, Simpson-Modetz Funeral Home, 5630 Pontiac Lake Road, Waterford. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Note

Bob was a U.S. Army soldier during the earlier part of the war in Vietnam. He was a proud veteran and loved reading military history as a hobby.

After the Army, Bob worked as an engineering technician in Ford’s Pilot Plant.
